R2 allows all users to apply security for any window and/or the components present in R2. In addition to the current Global Level Security, you can also set newly introduced Access Path Level Security.
This can be done in any active window by switching to security mode using the Function Key F6 and back to Normal Mode using the Function key F7.
Who can set the Security?
The Employees who have their Security Level set as Administration (in Employee Edit Window) can apply security for R2 Windows.

Data Level
In R2 the user can set four levels of security as below :
Full Access: Selecting this access level provides the user the ability to completely access the various options of the window.
Read Only: Selecting this access level opens the windows or the components in read-only mode. In Read-only mode of security level, the user will not be able to open any subsequent window which can be accessed from the security applied window.
No Access: Selecting this access level will restrict the user access the window or the component .
View Only: Selecting this access level opens the window or component in view-only mode, wherein the user will not be allowed to Add, Delete or Modify any contents displayed in the window. The user will be able to open any subsequent window which can be accessed from within the security applied window however, the same also will be displayed in View only mode.
Application Level
You can set the security in two category of types:
Screen Level is applied on a window as a whole.
Component Level is applied on individual window components.
Both the Screen and Component Level can be of either Access Path Level or Global Level.
System Level can be set through configuration for limited number of screens will have the highest priority of security over the other types of security set.
Global Level is currently available in Security Module allows to set the security for the limited number of screens which has been provided.
Support for applying Global Level security has been extended without any limitations on the number of screens on which security can be set.
This allows you to switch to security mode from any window that is active and can apply the security for the same.
If Global Level Security is applied for a window, the applied security will be active irrespective of which path or location that window is accessed from.
Access Path Level is the most advanced level of security. While applying security for a window and the components in it, you can set path level security for it, which means R2 will consider the window from where the active window is opened for setting security.
Illustration
Consider a scenario where the active window is Window(C) accessed via Window (B), which is accessed from the Window (A).
Thus Path Level Security for Window(C) is applicable automatically whenever the Window(C) is accessed via Window(B) (irrespective from where Window (B) is opened).

In the above scenario, the security will be applied, since though the Window(C) is accessed via Window(B) for which rule is already defined.

In the above scenario, the security will not be applied as the Window(C) is accessed via Window(F) and no specific rule is applied for the path.
