  Support to retrieve the Asset Shelf and Bin change history

What is Bin and Shelf information?

Finding an item without its location you are looking for in a large warehouse having a multitudes of inventory items can be a daunting task. So, to resolve such issues, each item in such a warehouse is given a location identifier - basically an address. Something that points out where it is kept.

For example: Floor #7, Shelf 5, Bin 10.

That's exactly what Bin and Shelf information is.

 

How does capturing Bin and Shelf information helps?

Now that we understand, what details Bin and Shelf information carries, it is easy to comprehend that, it would make an Asset Manager's task easier while creating the shipment for an Order.

For a more visual analogy, compare it with your courier delivery guy using your house address to reach you.

 

Access places to change the Shelf/ Bin information

  • In R2,

  • Maintenance module > Assets tab > Asset edit window.

  • Maintenance module > Items tab > Item edit window > Receive dialog window > Update Shelf and Bin for received assets.

  • R2 application > Contract line > Shelf and Bin columns when reserve by Asset ID/Product ID on contract and configuration flags ('Update Order/Transfer line Bin/Shelf to Item/Asset' and 'Update Product Bin / Shelf To Assets') is set to update the master records when contract line is updated.

  • R2 application > Transfer line > Bin and Shelf columns when reserve by Asset ID/Product ID on contract and configuration flags ('Update Order/Transfer line Bin/Shelf to Item/Asset' and 'Update Product Bin / Shelf To Assets') is set to update the master records when contract line is updated.

  • In R2 API,

  • Order resource > PUT / POST method> when Shelf and Bin are updated.

  • Serial Data Conversion,

 

  • Asset Manager mobile application,

  • Location Update window

  • Asset Update window

 

Tracking the Shelf/ Bin change information

Ever seen a notice outside a shop - "We have moved. We are now located at corner of XYZ Street."

Well, that's exactly why you need to keep a track of change in Bin and Shelf information.

It basically tells you - it was earlier 'Here' now it is 'There' story. Also, it states who updated this detail and when.

Likewise, you can also view the change information of Bin/ Shelf for Serial Item assets and serial kit assets by generating a custom report Rep_AssetInfoChangeHistoryView in Reports module.

 If the Shelf/ Bin value entered when the Asset is created for the first time, you will not see a report for one. Only when the Shelf/Bin value is changed fir the second time, the change information can be retrieved along with the previous values in the report.
